Summer is just around the corner and if you are looking to lighten up your drinks, here are 5 refreshing summer drink recipes that will keep you hydrated and energized.

1. Lemonade:

Lemon is loaded with vitamin C. It is also a body cleanser and has wonderful detox abilities. It keeps the body cool during the summers. It is must have drink daily.

Ingredients:

1 cup sugar (can reduce to 3/4 cup)

1 cup water (for the simple syrup)

1 cup lemon juice

2 to 3 cups cold water (to dilute)

Place the sugar and water in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer. Stir so that the sugar dissolves completely and remove from heat.

While the water is heating for the simple syrup, juice your lemons. Depending on the size of the lemons, 4 to 6 of them should be enough for one cup of juice.

Combine lemon juice, simple syrup, water

Pour the juice and the simple syrup sugar water into a serving pitcher. Add 2 to 3 cups of cold water and taste. Add more water if you would like it to be more diluted (though note that when you add ice, it will melt and naturally dilute the lemonade).

If the lemonade is a little sweet for your taste, add a little more straight lemon juice to it.

Refrigerate 30 to 40 minutes. Serve with ice, sliced lemons.

2. Coconut Water

Coconut water is one of the best drinks for summers. It has a great balance of potassium, sodium, and magnesium which help you to hydrate and cool you down. Coconut water also boost your energy levels. You can buy coconut water from your local vegetable or local market.

3. Pineapple Coconut Water

Ingredients:

1½ cup of Pineapple chunks

½ can of Coconut Water

¼ teaspoon of Coconut Extract

1 tablespoon Sugar or Honey

Ice

In a blender, combine all ingredients and blend until the desired consistency is reached. Add more water if necessary to reach desired consistency.

4. Raspberry Lemonade

You will get all the vitamin, mineral and antioxidant benefits from the raspberries. Lemons are also high in vitamin C. So combining raspberry with lemon is just having multiple benefits. This sweet and tangy raspberry lemonade is a perfect drink during summer.

Ingredients:

1 cup sugar

1 cup frozen raspberries

7 cups cold water

8 lemons, halved

Heat 1 cup of frozen raspberries and 1 cup of sugar over medium heat until the mixture is warm and bubbly. Don’t overcook. Pour the raspberry syrup through a mesh strainer to remove the seeds. While the raspberry syrup is cooling, fill a pitcher with 7 cups of cold water. Slice 8 lemons, then squeeze the lemon juice directly into the pitcher. Stir in the fragrant raspberry syrup. Taste the lemonade, if it’s too sour, add sugar and if it’s too sweet, add some more lemon juice.

5. Strawberry Melon Spritzer

Strawberry and melon is a perfect combination for a summer drink. It’s an easy recipe that you can use when you want to cool down in the summer.

Ingredients:

10 medium strawberries

1 1/2 cups watermelon

yogurt

1 cup ice

Mix together yogurt, watermelon, and half of strawberry. Add ice cubes to fill your glass and then add the rest of the strawberry for garnish. Stir the mixture and enjoy!
